Scott Smithson represents real estate investors, business owners, landlords, tenants, developers, and other entities in all aspects of commercial real estate, financing, and general corporate matters.
In his real estate practice, Scott handles purchase and sale transactions, leasing, new development, and land use projects for clients in several industries, involving properties in various asset classes. He also counsels privately-held companies on general business matters, including drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and giving advice on entity formation and corporate governance issues.
Scott is a deal-minded attorney who works hard to see each transaction to closing, while simultaneously protecting his clients’ rights and interests. He understands that every project is unique and enjoys finding creative solutions to new problems.
Prior to joining the firm, Scott worked as in-house counsel at a publicly-traded financial services holding company. He received his J.D. from the University of Missouri School of Law, where he was an editor for the Missouri Law Review and a director on the Board of Advocates.
Scott is active in the local community and volunteers his time as a Young Friend of the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center. He is an elected member of the Council for the Young Lawyers’ Section of the Missouri Bar, and he also serves on the board at Timothy Lutheran Church in St. Louis.
