Heidi M. Ottsen
Counsel - St. LouisHeidi Ottsen is an attorney in the St. Louis office and has practiced in the Trusts and Estates area for over 30 years. She represents clients in a wide range of estate planning techniques, including sophisticated techniques such as insurance trusts, joint spousal trusts, and spousal limited access trusts or SLATs.
Heidi works to anticipate the future needs of her clients and feels strongly that “a good attorney will go beyond what is asked.” Her meticulous organization and attention to detail enables her to be sure there are “no loose ends” and that a client’s total estate is considered and supported.
She also handles a variety of probate and trust administration matters, and tax matters such as fiduciary income tax returns, gift tax returns, and Federal Estate Tax returns. Prior to becoming an attorney, Heidi worked as a Trust Officer in the Chicago area.
Heidi also assists clients with modifying irrevocable trusts of all types, and recently obtained a judgement for a client which modified an irrevocable trust retroactively and will save the client’s family members millions in generation-skipping transfer or GST tax.
Heidi is active in charitable and religious activities in the St. Louis area, including Matthias’ Lot Church in St. Charles.
