Evan Kennedy
Counsel – Jefferson City/ColumbiaEvan Kennedy is Counsel in Jefferson City and Columbia where he advises clients on a wide range of matters to find effective and efficient solutions in government, regulatory and litigation matters.
Prior to entering private practice, Evan served as General Counsel to Missouri Governor Michael L. Parson, advising on legislation, administrative actions, judicial appointments, and legal issues and assisting in the management of more than 40,000 state employees and a $50 billion state budget. During his time serving in state government, Evan gained unique insight into how government officials and regulators approach issues affecting individuals, businesses and organizations. In 2023, Evan was appointed to serve as Acting Circuit Attorney for the City of St. Louis.
Evan served as a law clerk to the Honorable Duane Benton, United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, an opportunity that provided unique insight into how judges approach complex legal issues and how advocates can strengthen presentation of their case at trial and on appeal.
Prior to joining the Governor’s Office, Evan served as a legislative analyst in the Missouri House of Representatives and as an assistant attorney general in the Missouri Attorney General’s Office.
Before joining Blitz, Bardgett, and Deutsch, L.C., Evan practiced with a large law firm, participating in all stages of civil litigation, including achieving favorable outcomes on appeal, and representing individual and corporate clients in administrative and regulatory proceedings.
Evan received his Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas School of Law and Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
